What happens after you rent.
A short guide for new tenants — what arrives in your inbox, how to use your gate code, what to bring on move-in day, and where to manage the account.
Right After You Rent
Check Your Email
Immediately after completing your rental, you'll receive a confirmation email containing:
- Your unit number
- Your personal gate access code
- A copy of your signed lease agreement
- Your billing date and payment details
- Contact information for questions or help
If you don’t see the email within a few minutes, check your spam/junk folder. If you still can’t find it, call us at (352) 799-0922.
Your First Visit — Move-In Day
Find the Facility
Drive to 16339 Cortez Blvd, Brooksville, FL 34601. We're on Cortez Blvd (SR-50), accessible from US-19 and I-75.
Enter Your Gate Code
At the entry gate keypad, enter your personal access code (from your confirmation email). The gate will open automatically. Always close the gate behind you — don't let other vehicles tailgate through.
Find Your Unit
Your unit number is on your lease confirmation. Units are labeled on the doors. Drive to your unit — all drive-up units are accessible directly from the driveway with no steps or hallways.
Open Your Unit
Your unit will be unlocked on your move-in day. The door will be a roll-up style — lift it up to open. The unit will be clean and empty, ready for your items.
Add Your Lock
Once you've moved your items in, secure the unit with your own padlock. We recommend a disc lock or quality padlock — these are harder to cut than standard padlocks. You are responsible for your own lock; we do not provide them.
Your Access & Account
🕐 Gate Access Hours
Your gate code works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Come whenever you need to — there are no restricted access hours for tenants.
🏢 Office Hours
Office hours are Tuesday–Saturday, 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Sunday and Monday the office is closed — but the gate remains open 24/7. You never need to visit during office hours to access your unit.
💳 Billing
Your lease renews monthly on your billing date. If you set up auto-pay, your card is charged automatically. You can view billing history and update payment methods through your online account portal.

New Tenant FAQ
What happens right after I rent a storage unit?
You'll receive a confirmation email with your unit number, your personal gate access code, and a copy of your lease. You can drive to the facility immediately — gate access is available 24/7, so there's no need to wait for office hours.
Do I need to bring my own lock?
Yes. You are responsible for providing your own lock. We recommend a disc lock, which is more resistant to cutting than standard padlocks. Your unit will be unlocked on move-in day so you can load it up, then add your lock when you're done.
Can I access my unit any time of day or night?
Yes. Your gate code works 24/7, 365 days a year. You can come early in the morning, late at night, on holidays, or whenever it's convenient for you.
How do I pay my monthly storage bill?
You can pay online through your account portal at cortezselfstorage.storageunitsoftware.com/login. You can also set up auto-pay so your monthly payment is handled automatically on your billing date.
What if I need to cancel my storage unit?
Contact us before your next billing date to give notice. Remove all your items and your lock from the unit, and let us know you've vacated. We'll stop billing from the end of your current rental period.
